Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
We pray every morning 9am and evening 7.30pm; there is also Ecumenical prayers 8am and 8pm on Thursdays. You are welcome to join us in the vicarage garden with social distancing. Please continue to join us in the on-line for Mass on the seventh Sunday after Trinity.
Some of us are back in church for worship and the numbers are gradually growing. Our thanks to Olyve (LLM) and her team for leading the service on Sundays in Christ Church and let’s maintain that spirit of togetherness in the on-line services. Thank you for all of your prayers, may we continue to pray for families, and loved ones in these pre-vaccine days and stay in touch with each other.
Please remember the bereaved may God surround all their loved ones with His comfort and peace. We continue to pray for each other that others may see the beauty of Jesus in us.
COLLECT for the Seventh Sunday after Trinity (26.7.2020)
Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion,
nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, now and forever.
First reading Gen 29: 15 – 28
Psalm 105: 1 – 11; 45b Responsorial Psalm ‘Sing to the Lord, sing praises to him.’
Second Reading Rom 8: 26 – 39
Gospel Reading Matt 13: 31 – 33; 44 – 52
We have five parables in today’s gospel reading, all about the kingdom of heaven; the first 4 begin with, “the kingdom of heaven is like…” The kingdom of God is not a place somewhere (some geographic location), but a spiritual realm, it is where God rules – where He is Lord. We join the kingdom when we invite Jesus into our hearts. Wherever we go we carry that Kingdom with us.
We pray every day the prayer Jesus taught us, ‘Thy Kingdom come. Don’t we long for it? Jesus was willing to die on the cross and give His life blood, so we can enter the kingdom of heaven. God never gives up on us, Jesus helps us to be in a right relationship with Him. God’s desire is that no-one misses out on his amazing grace. He wants to reign in our heart so His kingdom will come – here in West Green – and everywhere. Amen
Have a blessed week!
