Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community

Dear Friends

In Jesus’ world as in ours, people with education, title, position, connections have the authority’. In today’s Gospel reading the Pharisees demanded to know where Jesus got his authority. If Jesus had said his authority came from God, they would accuse him of blasphemy (showing lack of respect for God). If he said that he was acting on his own authority, the crowds would be convinced that the Pharisees had the greater authority, because of their titles.
The authority of Jesus was worked out in his welcoming of sinners and prostitutes. The authority of Jesus was worked out in his welcoming of little children, a life of service, of personal sacrifice, rejection, and a criminal’s death on the cross. My prayer is that we at Christ Church may by our service, welcome those on the margins, welcome the little children and bring Jesus’ authority here in West Green. Amen
Every day, there is Morning Prayer 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm. Additionally, Ecumenical prayers 8pm on Thursdays and 8.15am on Fridays. You are welcome to join us in the vicarage garden / church hall with social distancing. Please continue to join us in the on-line for Mass on the 16th Sunday after Trinity. There is also Mass at 2pm on Thursdays.
This Sunday at Christ Church we are continuing with the new style of services and a midweek Mass so do come and join us. May we continue to pray for families in need of our prayers, especially Bev’s sister Patricia, touch her Lord with your healing love.
