Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community

Dear Friends

We pray every morning 9am and evening 7.30pm; there is also Ecumenical prayers 8pm on Thursdays and 8.15am on Friday. You are welcome to join us in the vicarage garden / church hall with social distancing. Please continue to join us in the on-line for Mass on the 13th Sunday after Trinity. There is also Mass at 2pm on Thursdays.

A huge thank you to Jim for our on-line services, all our volunteers for readings and intercessions and again Olyve and Keith for preaching and leading services whilst I was on leave. This Sunday at Christ Church we are starting a new style of services and a midweek Mass so do come and join us.  May we continue to pray for families in need of our prayers, especially Bev’s sister Patricia, touch her Lord with your healing love.

Today in our Gospel reading the phrase ‘from that time on’ marks the beginning of a new phase of Jesus’ mission. Its geographical focus was to be Jerusalem and its character was dominated by the cross. Jesus calls us to radical discipleship and a radical commitment. As Children of the light, we are given strength to carry our cross through the power of his Holy Spirit. God has measured and weighed our cross in the balance of love. Two roads stand before us today. The narrow road, the way of Christ or the wide road, the way of the world.  God’s amazing love seen supremely in the cross of Jesus, it is this same love that demands our soul, our life, our all.’ Amen

Please remember the bereaved, may God surround all their loved ones with His comfort and peace. We continue to pray for the family and friends of our brother Ali and Winston. Grant eternal rest O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon them may they rest in peace.

Please pray for Trevor and Rebecca as they prepare for their wedding day – their banns of marriage will be read out from Sunday 13th September.

Have a blessed week!

Almighty God,
who called your Church to bear witness
that you were in Christ reconciling the world to
help us to proclaim the good news of your love,
that all who hear it may be drawn to you;
through him who was lifted up on the cross,
and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God now and forever.
