Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community

Dear Friends

I love celebrating the harvest, giving thanks to God for our food and those who produce and distribute it. God created the entire universe, the majestic mountains – every flower as an expression of His amazing love for us. He created each of us in His own image. So, at harvest particularly, we come to give thanks to God for all His good gifts to us both the visible and the spiritual. Jesus’ focus in the bible is about a spiritual harvest.
May we continue to pray for each other and keep that sense of togetherness as we continue to live-stream our Masses. Today Michelle is both preaching and our soloist at the end of mass. As you know, we have one hymn at the end of the service, please text or email me your requests for the following week. Please also let me know if you’re prepared to sing – It’ll have to be a solo because of the current restrictions.
Each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm. Ecumenical prayers are at 8pm on Thursdays and 8.00 am on Fridays. Please join us in the church if you are able to. Mass is also celebrated at 2pm on Thursdays.
We look forward to the following coming events:
• Harvest Service: God’s spiritual gifts – commissioning of new PCC 2020
• MacMillan’s coffee morning by Zoom on Sat 31st Oct (thank you Paulette for organising this)
• All Saints’ Day (Commissioning of Church Wardens) 1.11.2020
• All Souls service 2.11.2020
• Remembrance Day 8.11.2020

We continue to hold in our prayer all families in need of prayers – particularly, Bev’s sister Patricia, that the Lord will minister His love and healing. We pray too for all those who mourn the loss of loved ones.

COLLECT for Harvest (25.10.2020)

Eternal God,
You crown the year with your goodness
And you give us the fruits of the earth in their season:
Grant that we may use them to your glory
For the relief of those in need and for our own well-being;
Through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord
Who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, now and forever.
