Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
Today we have Remembrance Sunday which marks the centenary of the first World war. When people around the country will be remembering those who died in previous wars; those who gave their lives so that we may remain free. With so many who have died through Coronavirus we want to have a time of ‘Remembrance’ – remembering all our loved ones by providing SPACE and MOMENTS in our Lady Chapel on Sunday to support people as they remember those they love but see no longer.
Our services of Remembrance show that nothing, that we give as members of God’s household is ever lost: nothing of our labour or suffering. And our prayer is that all people will long for peace and hope.
The author of life is coming back in all His glory. Every single person is precious to God made in His image. The Holy Spirit works in us and through us to transform us from our brokenness into his glory. Jesus invites us all to value Him, to be patient so He can make us a people of prayer! Jesus came from heaven and when he returns he will call us home to a place where there are no more tear, no more pain, no more war and he wants no one to perish but all to enter the kingdom of heaven.
May we continue to pray for each other and keep that sense of togetherness as we enter into even more restrictions and lockdown. Each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm in the vicarage household. ZOOM Ecumenical prayers are at 7.30pm on Thursdays and 8.15 am on Fridays. Please join us by Zoom if you are able to.
We continue to hold in our prayer all families in need of prayers – particularly Pearl’s husband Mitford and Bev’s sister Patricia, that the Lord will minister His love and healing. We pray too for all those who mourn the loss of loved ones.

COLLECT for Remembrance Sunday (08.11.2020)
Almighty and eternal God,
you have kindled the flame of love
in the hearts of the saints:
grant to us the same faith and power of love
that, as we rejoice in their triumphs,
we may be sustained by their example and fellowship;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord
who is alive and reigns with you,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God now and forever.
