Bulletin for Mothering Sunday of Lent 14. 3. 2021

Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
Message from your Parish Priest

Today we celebrate and give thanks to God for the love and care of mothers. In our Gospel reading as Jesus was dying he gives a command to the Apostle John, the disciple Jesus loved, to ‘take care of Mary – Jesus’ mother.’ Mothering Sunday enables us to show our love and affection for those who care for us. It helps us to see the love of God our Father, our God who laughs for joy and cries for sorrow. A God who wants to protect and care for us. As a mother hen gathers her chicks under her wings, God longs to gather us close to him. I hope all the women are enjoying the flowers we distributed for Mothering Sunday, I trust you all had breakfast in bed!.
We continue to have the Stations of the Cross on Friday 7.30pm at Christ church also on-line those who are shielding. The Lent conversation on Saturday 12:00 noon based on ’ Bishop Sarah Mullally book ROOTED in LOVE ‘Lent reflections on life in Christ. For those who wish to Join us by Zoom the link below. Everyone is welcome.

A reminder that each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm; ecumenical prayers are at 7.30pm on Thursdays and 8 am on Fridays. We remember all those who mourn loved ones especially our sister Pauline whose father passed away last week ‘Grant eternal rest O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in peace.’ Please also keep in your prayers Bev’s Sister Patricia, her cousin Jean & Jean’s husband Richard, also Pearl’s husband Mitford, Edna and Rose that they may all know God’s healing touch. During the pandemic we have seen quite a drop in ‘Giving.’ That is understandable as people have not been able to get to church. Nevertheless, the bills keep coming in and you may wish to bring your offerings to church or pay on-line, here are the details:
Account Name: Christ Church, West Green with St Peter
Sort code: 089299
Account Number: 65156465

We very much appreciate this. I’m not asking you to give more than you can afford. But as St Paul says ‘God loves a cheerful giver.
Have a Blessed week

God of compassion,
whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary,
shared the life of a home in Nazareth,
and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself:
strengthen us in our daily living
that in joy and in sorrow
we may know the power of your presence
to bind together and to heal;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, now and forever. Amen
