Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
Message from your Parish Priest
Many of you may have heard the sad news of the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip passing away on Friday 9th April, we pray for Her majesty the Queen her family in her bereavement. Prayers: ‘God of our lives we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip for his love of our country and for his devotion to duty. We entrust him now in your love and mercy, through our redeemer Jesus Christ.’ Amen Merciful God, be close to all who mourn, especially The Queen and all members of the Royal Family. May they know the hope of your promises and the comfort of your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Gospel reading is about ‘Doubting Thomas.’ Our faith is in a invisible God. The bible tells us we are to walk by faith and not by sight. Thomas was walking by sight, but Jesus understood Thomas. Jesus allowed Thomas to see his hands and put his hand in his side. Jesus meets us where we are; even when we are full of doubt like Thomas. Thomas responded by acknowledging Jesus to be God, saying ‘my Lord and my God.’ For Thomas, Jesus is the Lord of his life. Whatever we may be going through we can invite God into that situation, if we have no expectations then we are not ready for God to surprise us. Day by day we too need to be having conversations with God, praying with an attitude of expectation even in these days of the pandemic. As an Easter people let us walk with faith.
Let us remember all those who mourn loved ones especially our sisters Bev (who is mourning the loss of her cousin Jean passed away 5th April), Dainey, Pauline, and Corinth. The church is open for prayers. Please also keep in your prayers Bev’s Sister Patricia, her cousin Richard, also Pearl’s husband Mitford, Edna and Rose that they may all know God’s healing presence.
During the pandemic we have seen quite a drop in ‘Giving.’ There are different ways in giving: Planned giving envelopes (please collect them from Olyve Johnson – Stewardship Officer); pay through Christ Church website or you may wish to pay on-line, here are the details:
Account Name: Christ Church, West Green with St Peter
Sort code: 089299
Account Number: 65156465
We very much appreciate this. I’m not asking you to give more than you can afford. But as St Paul says ‘God loves a cheerful giver.
Have a blessed day

Collect for the 2nd Sunday of Easter 11.4.2021
You have given your only Son to die for our sins
and to rise again for our justification;
grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness
that we may always serve you
in pureness of living and truth;
through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
one God now and forever. Amen
