Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
Message from your Parish Priest
In today’s Gospel reading Jesus gives the disciples a graphic picture of how they are to live their lives. The image of the Vine and the branches is such a vivid and useful one; being joined on to the Vine makes all the difference and we cannot expect to produce spiritual fruit unless we are well attached, with the life sap flowing through us. Jesus places Himself in the role of the Vine and His Father as the gardener. A branch should have the same sap, DNA as the trunk. Jesus is the Vine we are the branches. And what Jesus is saying here is the importance of staying connected to the source of power. We need His life, Christ’s life in us all the time if we are going to produce fruit. May God give us grace to glorify His name by bearing much fruit.
Each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm; ecumenical prayers are at 7.30pm on Thursdays and 8.00 am on Fridays with social distancing at Christ Church. Let us continue to remember all those who mourn loved ones especially our sisters Bev, Dainey, Pauline, and Corinth. The church is open for prayers. Please also keep in your prayers Bev’s Sister Patricia, her cousin Richard, also Pearl’s husband Mitford, Edna, Ena, Rose, Mel, Marvia, Althea, Jade, Genievive, and Vera that they may all know God’s healing presence.

Collect for the 5th Sunday of Easter 2.5.2021
who through your only begotten Son Jesus Christ
have overcome death and opened to us
the gate of everlasting life:
grant that, as by your grace going before us
you put into our minds good desires
so by your continual help
we may bring them to good effect
through Jesus Christ our risen Lord
who is alive and reigns with you
In the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, now and forever. Amen
