Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community

In today’s Gospel reading The Good News is all about Jesus. The Gospel is for everyone! A personal relationship touches us – changes us. We need to get that message to all people. We need to take responsibility. Giving the good news to the poor means that we are a praying church, a blessing to our community, and praying specifically for their needs. Today we welcome Archdeacon Jonathan who will be giving us the homily on this Rogation Sunday.
Each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm; ecumenical prayers are at 7.30pm on Thursdays and 8.00 am on Fridays with social distancing at Christ Church. Let us continue to remember all those who mourn loved ones. especially our sister Bev. As some of you will know from the WhatsApp messages, after a long illness, Bev’s sister Patricia has passed away. Bev would like to thank everybody for their prayers for Patricia, which were a comfort, not only to Patricia, but to the whole family. Patricia, as Bev so rightly says, is resting in God’s peace. Prayer for all who mourn: Loving Father, please hold Bev, Dainey, Pauline, Corinth and her son Jermayne, and all these families in your everlasting arms let them know your comfort and peace at this difficult time. We know you are the resurrection and the life and thank you that your presence will enfold all those who mourn.
The church is open for prayers. Please also keep in your prayers Bev’s cousin Richard, also Pearl’s husband Mitford, Edna, Ena, Rose, Mel, Marvia, Althea, Jade, Genievive, and Vera that they may all know God’s healing presence.
There was an announcement about CAP (Christians Against Poverty) in last week’s service. Collect for the 6th Sunday of Easter 9.5.2021
God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us
to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, now and forever. Amen
