Christ Church Vision: Bringing Jesus into the heart of the Community
Our readings today remind us that as children of God we are united with Jesus in His Resurrection and Ascension. When Jesus ascended – he displayed his victory over death for all to see. We are called to be imitators of Christ (Gal 5:1), to imitate Christ in our thoughts and actions. Today’s Gospel reading from John’s Gospel talks about Jesus praying for all believers. Jesus is sitting at the right-hand side of the Father and He is praying for us! Praying that we would be of one heart. Praying that we would recognise that we have the same Holy Spirit. This is why Ascension Day is so important – the Holy Spirit unites us in one prayer – together we are strong in the Lord, even in these difficult days of the pandemic. Together we will have the victory!
Each day we have Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening Prayer 7.30pm; ecumenical prayers are at 7.30pm on Thursdays and 8.00 am on Fridays with social distancing at Christ Church. Let us continue to remember all those who mourn loved ones. especially Bev, Corinth and her son Jermayne, pray too for Dainey, Pauline and their families. Heavenly Father, let them experience your comfort and peace at this difficult time. We know you are the resurrection and the life and thank you that your presence will enfold all those who mourn.
The church is open for prayers. Please also keep in your prayers Bev’s cousin Richard, also Pearl’s husband Mitford, Edna, Ena, Rose, Mel, Marvia, Althea, Jade, Genievive, Vera and Lucy Linton that they may all know God’s healing presence.
There was an announcement about CAP (Christians Against Poverty) in the on-line service on Sunday 2nd May. The APCM meeting is on Sunday 30th May after Mass. Jim will not be here to do on-line services after Pentecost, and we want to thank him for all his hard work.

Collect for the 7th Sunday of Easter (Sunday after Ascension Day) 16.5.2021
O God, the King of glory,
you have exalted your only Son, Jesus Christ
with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,
but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us
and exalt us to the place
where our Saviour Christ is gone before
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
One God, for ever and ever. Amen
